The Gleaming Depths raid has changed how a lot of Fallout 76 players look at endgame. It isn't the kind of activity you wander into with a random build and a half-full stash box. You need room to carry supplies, you need proper rad protection, and you really need three teammates who'll actually talk. My group learned that the hard way. We got flattened over and over before the run started to make sense. Some players even check places like EZNPC before a raid night to sort out gear or stock up faster, because once you're down in those tunnels, bad prep shows immediately.
Getting Past the EN06 GuardianThe first boss is where most teams get a reality check. The EN06 Guardian looks manageable for about ten seconds, then the shield cycle starts and people panic. Don't stand there trading damage when it glows red. Get behind the rocks and wait it out. That one habit alone saves loads of stimpaks. While the blast phase is happening, your quickest player should move on the generators and shut the shield down. The rest of the squad can stay on the boss and dump V.A.T.S. crits into the weak point whenever it opens. After that, the raid shifts into the mine section, and the pace changes fast. Fuel has to be moved, the drill has to stay alive, and Mole Miners come from every angle. The real problem is the Mole Stalker. If you lose sight of it for a second, somebody's getting deleted. We've had the best luck running two fuel carriers, one defender, and one player roaming ahead to thin the pack.
The Cultist Maze Is Slower Than It LooksThe Epsilon Cultist encounter catches people out because it's less about raw damage and more about not wasting time. You can't hurt them properly until those side generators are smashed, so rushing the middle usually turns into a mess. Clear the route, break the power sources, then collapse on isolated targets. Also, kill the Eyebots as soon as they appear. A lot of teams ignore them for too long, and that healing drags the fight into a slog. Once you hit the core room, things get much more direct. It turns into wave control, space management, and timing your explosives so they land where the crowd is thickest. Crystal explosives work best when the team agrees on one choke point instead of lobbing them all over the room.
Builds That Actually Pull Their WeightYou don't need four meta clones, but you do need balance. A Bloodied commando can shred targets, sure, though that build feels way better when a tankier full-health player is soaking pressure and buying space. One support-minded teammate who knows when to revive, buff, and reposition can carry more than people think. Consumables matter too. Players love to save them, then wipe with a full stack in their inventory. Just use them. Psychobuff, repair kits, rad protection, all of it. This raid punishes hesitation more than it punishes imperfect gear.
Why People Keep Running ItThe reason players keep going back is simple: the loot actually feels worth the stress. Four-star legendary drops can change a build overnight, especially if you land something like Conductor's for group sustain or Encircler's for crowd clearing. That's the kind of reward that makes another two-hour session feel justified. Yes, farming the first boss is faster, and plenty of people do it, but the full clear still has the better payoff if your team can hold together.
